1121 Pusa Basmati rice
1121 is an evolved variety of Pusa Basmati rice developed by Indian scientists. This variety of rice is known for its extraordinary length, which can be as much as 9.5mm for a single grain. It was developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and released for commercial cultivation in kharif season of 2003. By 2007, the variety has become widely popular with farmers, as Pusa-1121 has a yield of 19-20 quintals of paddy per acre as compared to 9-10 quintals for traditional tall basmati,
